Cultivating Common Ground with SEEDS:

Services that Encourage Effective Dialogue and Solutions

East Bay Community Mediation (EBCM), the union of three nonprofit conflict resolution programs serving Alameda County:

Berkeley Dispute Resolution Service (BDRS),

Conciliation Forums of Oakland (CFO) , and
Mediation Services, (serving Castro Valley/Hayward/Fremont)

is pleased to announce we have adopted a new name to reflect the evolution of our organization and our mission:

SEEDS Community Resolution Center.

Stay tuned for more updates on how we plan to help spread and sow "seeds of resolution" in our diverse communities!

We are celebrating 25 years in the East Bay!

In 1983, a dedicated group of community leaders and volunteers established Conciliation Forums of Oakland (CFO), one of SEEDS root nonprofit programs, to provide free access to neighborhood-based mediation services in Oakland. CFO's motto was neighbors helping neighbors solve problems. This year we are please to mark and celebrate 25 years of community mediation, facilitation and training services helping over 50,000 people - families, neighbors, landlords, tenants, schools, small businesses and others in dispute learn about their options and find peaceful and effective resolution to their conflicts.

SEEDS is having a party on Saturday, October 25th, 2008 at the Berkeley Marina to celebrate our achievements. We invite you to join us for an evening of fun: music, dancing, hors d'oeuvres, and door prizes! Click here for more information and ways to register!

SEEDS is also proud to honor our legacy by celebrating the remarkable contributions of those who have helped illuminate our path by sowing seeds of resolution in our root community organizations as well as the Alameda County Superior Courts. Please join us in acknowledging those who have selflessly served over the decades: Danielle Guerra, Victor Herbert, Harriet Whitman Lee, Barbara Littwin, Sharon Luther, Carole Selz, Arline "Sandi" Tyler, Michael Woodbridge, and Commissioner Tom Surh.
